Best of 2017: A look back at dining features from Sugar Land, Missouri City this year

Community Impact Newspaper profiles one locally owned restaurant in either Sugar Land or Missouri City each month. Check out the 11 spots we selected for 2017 below.


The Rouxpour Restaurant and Bar
The menu carries myriad seafood choices but also features steaks, poultry and pasta dishes. Naturally there are the New Orleans classics, such as gumbo, po’boys and, of course, crawfish.





Casa Vaqueros
At Casa Vaqueros in Missouri City, there are nearly as many different flavors of margaritas as there are entrees on the menu.





Gojira Japanese Fusion & Bar
Gojira offers more than 80 sushi and sashimi options.







Raizes offers Mexican food with influences from around the U.S. that go beyond the traditional taco.





Anonymous Artisan Bites & Coffee Bar


The most popular iced coffee drink at Anonymous is the Freddo cappuccino, while the most popular hot coffee drink is the caramel macchiato, a mix of espresso, caramel, vanilla and milk.





Micheaux’s Diner and Catering
While the diner focuses on soul food, Micheaux cooks a broad array of cuisines as part of his catering services, including barbecue, Italian, Mexican and Creole, among other varieties.





Carmelo's Mexican Grill
Carmelo's offers diners a multitude of traditional and Tex-Mex dishes, ranging from burritos to quesadillas, enchiladas and tamales.





The Greatest BBQ
The eatery serves up brisket, ribs, sausage and chicken, among other meats, with a variety of side dishes as well.





Falbo Bros. Pizza
At Falbo Bros., the pizza dough and the tomato sauce are made from scratch, vegetables are cut by hand, and the cheese, which arrives in 5-pound blocks, is shredded in the kitchen.





Teacake Factory
The Teacake Factory sells an assortment of goods, including puff pastries, cupcakes, cookies, and macaroons.





DDK Kabab & Grill 
The restaurant serves traditional dishes of India and Pakistan with regional recipes and spices, including various curries and kababs.

The METRO board of directors met Sept. 21 to give an overview of the drafted budget as well as to receive public comments. It was unanimously approved at the Sept. 23 board meeting.
