Downtown Katy project
The project to renovate streets and sidewalks around the future plaza next to Katy City Hall was expected to end this month. Crews were in the final closeout stages, which included cleaning and last-minute maintenance. The contractor expected to have all crews and equipment out of the area by late December. The project converted Second and Third streets to one-way roads, and it increased street parking in front of neighboring shops. The city of Katy also plans to construct a public entertainment plaza in the area as well.

The project was 28 percent complete on Nov. 8 and was expected to be closer to 40 percent complete by this month’s end. Crews are working on the intersection of FM 1463 and Cane Island Parkway, including concrete pavement placement. The parkway extension will connect with Cane Island Boulevard at Hwy. 90, which opened in November. The project is expected to open on time.

The remaining work is primarily grading, seeding and sodding, as well as constructing sidewalks, pedestrian ramps and final signals. The frontage roads will extend to Fulshear while the toll lanes will not be lengthened farther. The project is expected to finish on time.
