Several government bodies have public meetings scheduled this week around Conroe and Montgomery:


Montgomery County Commissioners’ Court gathers Dec. 12
Montgomery County Commissioners’ Court meets Tuesday morning to discuss and take possible action on various items. Commissioners will also consider and discuss claims relating to opioid painkillers and retention of special counsel on contingency fee.

Commissioners will also consider an amendment to a Nov. 14 adoption day proclamation, designating Nov. 15 as Montgomery County Adoption Day. The proclamation stated that “there are no restrictions on who can adopt based on race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or expression, gender identity or marital status.”

Tuesday’s amendment to the proclamation was introduced after some local residents and said using the phrase “gender identity” in the proclamation showed support of transgender people adopting children.
In a Nov. 17 Facebook Live video, Terri Jaggers, president of the Montgomery County Child Protective Services board, apologized for submitting a templated proclamation to Commissioners Court without reading it thoroughly.

Montgomery City Council meets Dec. 12
