Montgomery County Commissioners Court held its regular meeting Nov. 28. Here are a few things to know.


1. Commissioners will create a Montgomery County strategic plan
Montgomery County commissioners agreed to create a Montgomery County strategic plan. Commissioners will host a workshop at a later date to begin work on the plan. County Judge Craig Doyal said the plan could look at items such as financial management policies as well as needs for law enforcement and mobility improvements.





2. County animal shelter receives a $100,000 grant
Commissioners accepted a $100,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. Including the $100,000, the shelter has received about $275,000 in various grants from the Petco Foundation this year. Commissioners also approved the purchase of a $169,000 trailer using grant funds to transport animals during disaster situations and to host off-site animal shelter adoptions.





3. Sheriff's office purchases new motorcycles
Commissioners approved the purchase of five motorcycles from Gulf Coast BMW of Houston for about $25,000 each. The purchase is funded from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office budget.





4. Commissioners approve contract extension with Health and Human Services Commission
Commissioners extended the county's contract with Health and Human Services Commission through 2019. The county has a contract with the commission worth $30,834,900 for mental health services in 2016 and 2017, and the extension through 2019 is worth about $33,989,000.
