Nov. 27-30: Lone Star College-University Park toy drive enters last week
This is the last week Lone Star College-University Park is accepting donations for its holiday toy drive. Donations benefit the Children’s Assessment Center, which is a child abuse advocacy center that provides treatment to sexually abused children and their families. Donation collection boxes for new toys and books are located in every elevator lobby throughout the campus. Nov. 27-Dec. 1: Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department Toy Drive brings toys to kids in need
The Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department collects unopened toys for children in need, benefiting Cypress Assistance Ministries through Dec. 15. The gifts for children ranging in age from newborn to 17 years old can be dropped off at any CFVFD station or the main office. 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Free. Nov. 27: Alternative Teacher Certification Program hosts information session
College graduates with a bachelor’s degree interested in teaching as a career can attend an Alternative Teacher Certification Program information session. Nov. 28: Big Give Houston raises money for nonprofits
The 24-hour online fundraiser is extended to local nonprofit organizations with a Guidestar account, raising money to help them in their individual missions. Donors are encouraged to give for flood relief, as the event was delayed by Hurricane Harvey. www.biggivehouston.org





Nov. 28: Feed Harvey Recovery Teams with Cypress United Methodist Church
Until May, Cypress United Methodist Church is gathering food for out-of-state work teams helping rebuild after Hurricane Harvey. Nov. 30: Last day to apply for disaster relief funding
Nov. 30 is the new deadline for individuals, businesses and nonprofits to apply with the Federal Emergency Management Agency for disaster assistance claims and U.S. Small Business Administration disaster loan applications. www.disasterassistance.gov
