Things to do in Gilbert for March 15-16


Temperatures will warm up this weekend, making for an ideal weekend to get out of the house. Here are some events to consider.

Musicians turn classical

The newly organized Gilbert Symphony Orchestra’s first concert will be during spring break with the themes of springtime and Irish. 7 p.m. Free but ticket reservation is required. Higley Center for the Performing Arts, 4132 E. Pecos Road, Gilbert. 480-279-7190.

Get garden ready for spring planting season

Master gardener Lee Ann Aronson of the Arizona Herb Association presents participants with information about what vegetables to plant in their gardens during spring in the Arizona climate. Topics to be covered include the use of different soils, watering practices and the effects of sun on plants. 11 a.m.-noon. Free but registration is required. Let kids explore ‘topias’

Kidtopia features inflatables, selfie galleries, sports activities, games, rides, music from Disney Channel stars and others, a petting zoo and more, organized in different “topias.” 10 a.m.-4 p.m. $15-$25. Gilbert Civic Center, 50 E. Civic Center, Gilbert.
