Where to stash bored kids this summer? Your guide to Gilbert camps


Summer breaks give students a chance to transition into campers and experience all the area has to offer. Here are several of the camps that will be offered in Gilbert and the surrounding area. This guide is noncomprehensive.

YMCA full-day camps

The YMCA summer camps for children ages 5 and older will include activities like treasure
hunts and field trip. Each week has a different theme. The camps will run Mondays through Fridays with dates to be announced later this spring. Camps start at $275.

Camp Curiosity

Childtime Learning Centers offers a variety of day camps for ages 5-12 that include field trips. Themes include STEM Explorations, Scientific Discoveries and Young Zoologists for ages 5 and up; and Down on the Farm, Movers and Shakers, and Science Squad for ages 3-4. Call for dates and prices.

Animal Adventure summer camp

Throughout the week, kids ages 6-8 and 9-12 will make observations and experience what makes pets and animals unique in this Arizona Humane Society camp. $275. Final dates to be announced in spring.

In this weeklong camp, boys and girls ages 6-17 will learn tips, drills and pointers from professional and experienced coaches to learn the ins and outs of playing basketball. $350. June 18-22.

USA Youth Fitness summer camp

This fitness camp has field trips, sports contests and trampoline fun to keep your kids ages 5-12 active and energized throughout summer vacation. From $35 a day and $210 a week. 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. May 28-July 27.

Gilbert Defense Arts dragon camp

This one-week camp features martials arts and weapons training daily for ages 5-12. It also includes field trips with a water-fight finale and five animal-themed days. $225 per week. June 17-21 or July 15-19.

Exploring Photography for Teens

Art Intersection will introduce teens ages 13-17 to the basics and fundamentals of taking pictures. Throughout this class, students will learn about different photography techniques while working on fun projects. Sessions June 5-8 and July 10-13.

All Around the World

The Art House in Gilbert will host a day camp for boys and girls ages 4-10. This class will take kids on a trip all over the world through arts, crafts and activities. $125. July 9-11.

School of Rock 101 summer camps

School of Rock camps and workshops are geared to help its students ages 3-18-plus of different skill levels polish their technique and put on a performance. $500. June 3-July 19.

Sylvan STEM summer camps

Sylvan camps for students in grades 1-8 encourage kids to continue to learn through their STEM camps. They include robotics and science, engineering and coding classes.

Engineering for Kids of Phoenix Metro

iD Tech Camps

iD Tech Camps can help answer children’s coding questions through their weeklong classes at ASU. Open to students ages 7-17 of differing skills, iD Tech will show them the ins and outs of game design and coding. Starting at $579. Camps offered June 3-July 26.

Friendly Pines Camp

Friendly Pines Camp is an overnight coed summer camp in Prescott for children ages 6-13 with outdoor activities such as horse rides, hiking and zip lining. Dates and prices for the one- and two-week sessions to be announced.
