Movie in the Park

See the classic baseball film "Field of Dreams" at Eastern Flank Park, presented by the city of Franklin. Concessions items will be available. 8 p.m.-10 p.m. Free. Eastern Flank Park, 1368 Eastern Flank Circle, Franklin.

Aug. 24
Great Americana BBQ Fest

Head to The Park at Harlinsdale Farm for an afternoon of barbecue and music. Patrick Carpenter, Andrew Millsaps and Liv Noelle will perform, and prizes will be awarded for the best barbecue. 12 p.m. $5 (adults), free (kids under 12). The Park at Harlinsdale Farm, 239 Franklin Road, Franklin.

Franklin Watermelon Festival
Head down to the Franklin Farmers Market for free children's activities, a watermelon eating contest and more.

'An Evening of Nonsense'

Franklin Creative Studios will host "An Evening of Nonsense" with storyteller Daniel Ornellas and magician/comedian Taylor Hughes. Free. 7-9 p.m. Franklin Creative Studios, 1261 Columbia Ave., Franklin. 615-423-0703.

TDOT: No lane closures during Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Nov. 27-Dec. 2

To help cut down on travel delays during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, the Tennessee Department of Transportation announced Nov. 25 it will pause all lane closure activity on interstates and state highways.
