Jingle Bell Run, Winter Wonderland: 10 things to do in The Woodlands this weekend, Dec. 8-10


Between the annual Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis, a Walk for Human Rights and a free outdoor screening of “The Santa Clause,” there are plenty of things to do in The Woodlands area this weekend, Dec. 8-10.

  1. The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center
    Dec. 8-10

The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center will be open until Jan. 15 for the 2017-18 season in its new 21,000-square-foot facility, adjacent to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The attraction features ice skating in a main room with lighting, a state-of-the-art sound system, party tables and concessions available for purchase. 3-11 p.m. (Dec. 8), 12:30-11 p.m. (Dec. 9), noon-7 p.m. (Dec. 10). 2. Kid’s Night Out: Elves Workshop
Dec. 8

Children ages 5-10 can make and wrap gifts for the holidays while also playing games, doing arts and crafts projects and enjoying dinner. 3. The Classics Movie Series: “The Santa Clause”

The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department presents a free screening of the film, “The Santa Clause” as part of its fall movie series. 5. Winter Wonderland

6. Jingle Bell Run

Hosted by The New 93Q, this annual event features a holiday-themed timed and untimed 5K races, a 1-mile race and a kid’s run, benefitting the Arthritis Foundation Texas. 7. 11 and Over Tennis Tournament

9. Wilderness First Aid
Dec. 9-10

Participants learn basic first aid in the wilderness through this course approved by the American Camping Association and the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. A two-year certification is issued for participants upon successful completion of the class. The course is recommended for participants age 14 and older. 8 a.m.-5 p.m. $140-$150. 10. Pancakes with Santa
Dec. 10

This catered event features live entertainment with Tom’s Fun Band, a personal visit and photo with Santa Claus, face painting, snow play and a marionette puppet show. Guests also have the opportunity to embellish a special frame for complimentary photos with Santa that read “The Night Before Christmas.” Advanced reservations are required for this event. 8-11 a.m. $15 (adult admission), $30 (children age 12 and younger).
