There are a variety of events happening this weekend in The Woodlands. Here are a few to consider adding to your calendar.

  1. Jan. 5: Gorilla Hole-New Year’s Celebration

Gorilla Hole is a themed night for fifth and sixth graders in which children enjoy fun games and activities with The Woodlands Township recreation staff. All activities will allow children to participate in a group setting. 7-9:45 p.m. $7 per person. 2. Jan. 6: Compost class

A free outdoor composting classes will give participants the opportunity to learn how to turn kitchen waste, yard trimmings and leaves into rich, handmade compost.  The outdoor composting class is taught by certified, experienced Montgomery County Master Gardeners. Composting resources, problem-solving, trouble-shooting and tips are provided at each class. High-quality collapsible compost bins are available for purchase at a reduced price. Compost-related door prizes, including a new compost bin, will be raffled off. 10-11 a.m. Free. 3. Jan. 6: Intro to Yoga Class

The Woodlands Yoga Studio will host a free yoga class for beginners this weekend. Participants will experience what a typical yoga class is like and will learn breathing and body work. 1-2:15 p.m. Free. 4. Jan.7: All Things Unicorn Cookie Class

Cookies in Color will host a cookie class that will have a unicorn theme. Participants will use colored icing, glitter, gold paint, sprinkles and edible confetti. A themed adult beverage, water and snacks will be provided. Participants will leave with six decorated cookies in a bakery box. 4-6 p.m. $75 per person. 5. Jan. 6, 7: George Springer at Woodlands Church
