Snowfest celebrations, cookies with Santa: 7 things to do in Sugar Land and Missouri City this weekend, Dec. 1-3

Several events take place this weekend, including chances for residents to get engaged within their cities with Sugar Land’s 12 Days of Annexation and Missouri City’s Snowfest Parade.



Friday

Snowfest Festival
This annual holiday tradition takes place at Missouri City City Hall, featuring the tree lighting ceremony, fun activities, fireworks, and photos with Santa. The city’s police department is also collecting unwrapped toys for the annual Blue Santa Toy Drive to support families in need. 5:30-9 p.m. Missouri City City Hall Complex, 1522 Texas Parkway, Missouri City. www.missouricitytx.gov

Holiday Concert
Families and friends can enjoy two evenings of holiday cheer as Hope City Church presents a holiday concert Friday with the Houston Show Choir performing the following night. Friday, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, 6-8 p.m. Sugar Land Town Square, 15958 City Walk, Sugar Land. www.sugarlandtownsquare.com

12 Days of Annexation
Sugar Land, Greatwood, and New Territory residents may visit predetermined locations throughout the city for a chance to win tickets to see the Houston Ballet perform The Nutcracker at the Smart Financial Centre. From Dec. 1-12, residents may fill out and enter a contest form at each site. There is a new location designated for each day. For more information, click here.

Snowfest Shuffle
People may participate in the annual 1.25-mile run, beginning at the Missouri City Recreation and Tennis Center and ending at the city’s public safety headquarters. In lieu of a registration fee, runners are to bring an unwrapped toy for the Blue Santa Toy Drive. Check-in, 7:30-8 a.m. Missouri City Recreation and Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Drive, Missouri City. www.missouricitytx.gov

Snowfest Parade
Festivities continue as the parade of holiday-themed floats begins its two-mile procession along Cartwright Road, ending at the Texas Parkway intersection. Roads will close at 7:30 a.m. surrounding the parade route. 9 a.m. Intersection of Cartwright Road and FM 1092. www.missouricitytx.gov

Cookies with Santa
Families may visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Houston Museum of Natural Science-Sugar Land, enjoying fun holiday crafts and milk and cookies. Children may play in the museum’s Block Party special exhibit. 10 a.m. Members, $5. Non-members, $14-$17.
