GUIDE: 18 summer camps to choose from in Sugar Land and Missouri City


The Sugar Land/Missouri City area is home to a variety of summer camps for children of all ages and interests. Parents can choose from academic, day, overnight and sports camps. This list is not comprehensive.

Club SciKidz camp

Students can have hands-on experiences learning about various science and technology programs with 48 different weeklong day camp options. Subject matter options include robotics and engineering, programming and apps, filmmaking and effects, extreme science, video game design, culinary arts, technology and innovation, and building and engineering. Ages 4-15. June 4-July 27. $285-$350

Cornerstone Christian Academy camp

In partnership with the University of Houston, the academy will offer various sessions pertaining to computers, science, engineering, language and writing. Additionally, sports, science, cooking and preschool programs will be offered through the school. Lunch and extended care options are also available for an additional cost. Ages 3-16. June 4-July 13 (UH summer camps), May 29-July 27 (CCA summer camps). $200-$350

Study Dorm

This educational summer camp helps students develop foundational skills for future academic success, learn new strategies that can be carried over into the new school year and have fun. Students can work on material that may have been challenging during the previous school year or get ahead for the upcoming school year. Study Dorm also offers SAT test prep camps for high school students. Ages 6-17. Xplorations Summer Science Adventures

From design and architecture to robots and rocket science, students can participate in a variety of weeklong camps at the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land. Before- and after-camp extended day care will be available for an additional cost. Ages 6-12. June 4-Aug. 10. $235-$340

Camp Curiosity

Childtime Learning Center provides campers with opportunities to participate in fun games, learning activities and multiple field trips based on designated weekly themes. The center also features both indoor and outdoor playgrounds. Ages 5-12. June 4-Fort Bend ISD start date. $213 per week plus a one-time $50 registration fee

Camp Sugar Creek

With six week-long sessions to choose from, this day camp, hosted at the Sugar Creek Country Club, offers on-site amenities and structured programming for children. Campers can golf, swim, play tennis, make arts and crafts, participate in group games and create science projects. Each week features a Wacky Wednesday and Thankful Thursday with varying themes. Ages 4-10. June 4-July 20. $190-$230 (country club members), $210-$250 (nonmembers)

City of Sugar Land camp

The Imperial Park Recreation Center hosts an 11-week summer camp program for local residents and nonresidents, beginning the week after Fort Bend ISD ends classes. Children participate in outdoor games and activities, take weekly field trips and go swimming twice a week. Extended day options are available for an extra fee. Ages 5-13. June 4-Aug. 17. $165 per week for residents, $195 per week for nonresidents

Kidventure Explorer camp

Kidventure operates several camps throughout the Greater Houston area, including a camp at Southminster School, serving Sugar Land and Missouri City families. This camp offers sessions featuring field trips, games, interactive presentations from guest speakers and activities designed to foster creativity, exploration, reflection and physical exercise. Ages 6-12. June 4-Aug. 3. $220 per week

St. Francis Episcopal School Summer on the Point camp

Programs range from morning, afternoon and full-day camps, and all subject matter offers hands-on, real-world experiences for students. From sports camps and dance camps to Pokemon camps and robotics camps, Summer on the Point has a program tailored to any student. Extended-stay options are also available for an extra fee. Ages 3-18. Summer camp options include reading and math programs, swimming, gymnastics, taekwondo and dance. Additionally students can participate field trips, and special guests from facilities like the Houston Museum of Natural Science will visit. Infants-fifth grade. June 4-Aug. 14. Cost TBD

Campers can enjoy various activities every week at the Fort Bend Family YMCA, including sports, games, arts and crafts, reading, field trips to local attractions and activities devoted to character development. The Young Leaders Camp offers options, including sports camp; cooking classes; cheer and dance camps; Lego camps; computer labs; and science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs. Ages 5-12. June 4-Aug. 17. $200 per week plus $150 registration fee

Camp Hope

Campers at New Hope Lutheran Church may enjoy daily Bible stories, arts and crafts, games, snacks and music activities on weekdays. The church also hosts splash days twice a week with a water slide for the children. Ages 4-14. July 9-27. $110 per week

Creek Kids at the Wild

Children can enjoy a four-day, three-night stay at Carolina Creek Christian Camp through Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Sugar Land. Activities include teaching and worship time; trampoline time; a water park; and a tree house with a rock wall, ropes course and zip line. For children who have finished grades 3-5. Safety America Karate camp

The camp features an indoor rock-climbing wall, a zipline, a moonwalk house and a ninja warrior obstacle course. Campers can also participate in karate, gymnastics, dodgeball and kickball activities. Sienna Stables
Sienna Stables offers one-week sessions teaching horse-riding basics to beginner equestrians, covering general knowledge, horse safety and riding exercises. The week concludes with a final day horse show exhibition in its covered arena where campers can demonstrate their skills and receive ribbon awards. Ages 6-16. This sports-focused program offers fun activities and amenities to children, including a pit of foam cubes, a moonwalk slide and gymnastics equipment. Campers can hone their gymnastics skills using trampoline, bars and beams. Ages 4-13. June 4-Aug.10. $35-$40 per day
