UPDATED: Early voting ends, school boards to meet: 7 things to know in Spring and Klein this week, June 11-15

UPDATED: The Harris County Flood Control District will hold an informational meeting on flood risk reduction on Thursday at Raveneaux Country Club.

Early voting ends this week in Klein ISD for a tax ratification election, and Harris County Commissioners Court could officially call a bond election. Here is what residents of Spring and Klein need to know during the week of June 11.

1. Vote early in the Klein ISD tax ratification election, June 11-12
Early voting in the Klein ISD tax ratification election continues this week, June 11-12. Voters will decide whether to approve a 9 cent increase in the maintenance and operations tax rate above the $1.04 per $100 valuation. Early voting is held at the following locations: Klein ISD Multipurpose Center, 7500 FM 2920, Spring; Klein Forest High School, 11400 Misty Valley, Houston; Champion Forest Baptist Church, 15555 Stuebner Airline Road, Houston. 2. Learn about cooking from a professional chef

3. Harris County commissioners to meet, June 12
Harris County Commissioners Court will meet at 10 a.m. at 1001 Preston St., Houston. Commissioners are expected to vote to call for a multi-billion dollar bond election at the meeting.

4.Spring, Klein ISD boards to meet June 11, 12
June 11

5. Learn about the issue of human trafficking, June 12
A speaker from Arrow Child and Family Ministries and representatives from law enforcement speak on the topic of human trafficking in the Houston area and answer questions from residents. 6:30-8:30 p.m. Free. 6.Obtain free breakfast and lunch for children in Spring, Klein ISDs
Children can obtain free breakfast and lunch at select schools this summer through a U.S. Department of Agriculture program. Spring ISD and Klein ISD have established multiple sites where meals are available.

7. County to hold flood mitigation discussion for Cypress Creek Watershed, June 15
Harris County Flood Control District is hosting public meetings in each of the county’s 23 watersheds to gather feedback on flood risk reduction measures before a bond referendum in August. A meeting for the Cypress Creek Watershed will take place this week on June 15, from 6-8 p.m. at Raveneaux Country Club, 9415 Cypresswood Drive, Spring. 713-684-4000. Read more on the bond here.
