Local EMS wins award, student art show and other things to know this week in Spring and Klein, Nov. 27-Dec. 1

A Christmas luncheon and student art show are planned this week in Spring and Klein. This is also the last week to donate to the Lone Star College-University Park toy drive.


1. Cypress Creek Emergency Medical Services recognized with award
The Texas Department of State Health Services presented the Cypress Creek Emergency Medical Services communications center with its 2017 EMS Telecommunicator Award on  Nov. 21. This award acknowledges the top communications center in the state. CCEMS officials said the communications center earned the award based on its work during Hurricane Harvey. The center fielded more than 12,000 calls for 16 different agencies between  Aug. 25-31, according to a CCEMS press release. www.ccems.com





2. Lone Star College-University Park toy drive enters last week, Nov. 27-30
This is the last week Lone Star College-University Park is accepting donations for its holiday toy drive. Donations benefit the Children's Assessment Center, which is a child abuse advocacy center that provides treatment to sexually abused children and their families. Donation collection boxes for new toys and books are located in every elevator lobby throughout the campus. 3. Lane closure planned on FM 1960 through Dec. 1
One outside lane of eastbound FM 1960 is closed daily from Champions Drive to Draper Lane from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday through Friday.





4. Student art show planned, Nov. 29-30

5. Big Stone Lodge holds Christmas luncheon, Dec. 1
Harris County Precinct 4's senior adult program hosts a luncheon with live entertainment at Big Stone Lodge on Friday. Ben's Chuck Wagon will provide staples such as turkey, dressing and mashed potatoes. Transportation is available for guests 50 or older from Champion Forest Baptists Church, located at 15555 Steubner Airline Road, Houston, at 10:15 a.m. Guests must register at the lodge by Nov. 29.
