News of businesses and restaurants opening in Pearland and Friendswood were popular among Community Impact Newspaper readers. Here are the top eight new business items that drew the most attention in 2018.


Costco comes to the Friendswood area

The widely anticipated Costco Wholesale at 1310 Jasmine St., Webster, brought 150,000 square feet of bulk shopping to the Friendswood area when it opened on Oct. 19.

Lotus Seafood

Lotus Seafood opens in Pearland

This growing, local chain of Cajun restaurants recently opened its fourth Houston-area location in Pearland. With almost 65,000 Instagram followers, Lotus’ news of a new location was a hit with its fans.

Total Wine & More

Pearland gets a Total Wine & More

Two years after helping pave the way for liquor sales in Pearland, Total Wine & More opened its store at 10322 Broadway Street in November.

Zero Degrees

Zero Degrees comes to Pearland … twice

With a Pearland Parkway location opening in March and a Broadway location in November, the area got two new locations of this growing Asian-Hispanic snack bar chain.

New Killen’s TMX concept set to open

From the mind that brought Pearland Killen’s Steakhouse, Killen’s BBQ and others, Ronnie Killen’s Tex-Mex concept drew a lot of interest when it was announced this fall. It is now taking reservations for Jan. 6 and beyond.

Friendswood welcomes Jado’z Grill House

Located at 804 S. Friendswood Drive, Ste. 100, Friendswood, Jado’z Grill House started bringing Mediterranean fare to Friendswood in May. Jad Zeidan opened the restaurant with his father, Mazen Zeidan, who owned the Mediterranean Chef in Galveston for 12 years.

Pearland awaits opening of new learning center

The new Pearland Learning Center, 12310 Broadway St., Pearland, has been under construction since May and while it expected to open in the fall, is now looking at a Spring 2019 opening. The center is poised to offer several extra-curricular learning programs for area families.
