Charles Bender Performing Arts Center opens 2018 slate this weekend


The Charles Bender Performing Arts Center will host its first event of 2018—a concert by a violinist Rob Landes—on Saturday. The venue, which is located at 611 Higgins St., Humble, has six events scheduled already for the year. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the Charles Bender Performing Arts Center. 281-446-4140.

Jan. 13

Rice graduate and classically trained violinist Rob Landes will use his talents to perform an assortment of popular songs, such as Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” and AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck.” 7 p.m. $15.

Jan. 27

Vitacca Dance Project presents its first performance of the season with “A Night at the Ballet.” The dance group will perform to both classical and contemporary works. 7 p.m. $15.

March 24

Singer Michael Hix will perform “I Got Soul,” which includes a collection of soul, pop and Motown covers. 7 p.m. $15.

April 13

Comedian Bob Smiley brings his brand of comedy to the Charles Bender Performing Arts Center this April. The 21-year comedy veteran features a high-energy set. 7 p.m. $15.

April 20-22

CYT Houston opens its 2018 season with a performance of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” The musical will feature the adventures of Charlie, Sally, Linus and Snoopy. 7 p.m. (April 20-21) 2 p.m. (April 21-22). $15.

April 27-29, May 4-6

In its second performance of the year at the the Charles Bender Performing Arts Center, CYT Houston performs the classic musical “Singin’ in the Rain.” Times TBD. Cost TBD.
