Several public meetings are happening in the Katy area this week. See what officials and other groups are up to:

Early voting starts Monday
Early voting runs from Oct. 23 to Nov. 3. Check out our Local Election Guide 2017 for Katy-area polling places, various bond issues on the ballot and information on several proposed state constitutional amendments.


Katy ISD board of trustees meets Monday
Katy ISD's board of trustees meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Miller Career and Technology Center, 1734 Katyland Drive, Katy.

Agenda items include a public hearing on the district's rating on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas.

Katy City Council meets Monday
Katy City Council holds its regular agenda meeting Monday at 901 Avenue C, Katy.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Agenda items include the third and final presentation on a Katy flood mitigation study prepared by Costello Inc.

Harris, Fort Bend County Commissioners courts meet Tuesday
Commissioners Courts for Harris and Fort Bend counties meet at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively. The Harris court's agenda can be read here and the Fort Bend court's agenda can be read here.

Harris County commissioners meet at 1001 Preston St., Houston, and Fort Bend's commissioners meet at 401 Jackson St., Richmond.

The Grand Parkway widening project open house is set for Tuesday
The Texas Department of Transportation is holding a public meeting to receive input on a proposed widening of the Grand Parkway from a four- to six-lane divided highway, from just south of I-10 to Westpark Tollway/FM 1093.

The meeting is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Cinco Ranch High School, 23440 Cinco Ranch Blvd., Katy. Staffers will be available to answer questions, according to TxDOT.

Thursday: Medicare informational workshop, enrollment events in Katy
Academy Financial Group hosts free Medicare information and enrollment events throughout October and November to answer questions about the program. No registration is required for the free events.
