Live music, a dance concert and a business grand opening: 6 things to do in the Katy area this weekend, March 9-11


Whether you are up for live music, a nature seminar or a dance performance, there are plenty of things to do in the Katy area this weekend. Here are six events we think you’ll enjoy:


1. Right 2 Repair Electronics grand opening

The newly opened electronics repair shop will be offering free diagnostics on handheld devices, computers and home electronics. Stop by to meet the staff. 9 p.m.-midnight. Free. 555 S. Mason Road, Katy. 281-944-9922.

2. Infinity’s Twin live at EinStein’s Pub

Get out of the house and catch some live music with Infinity’s Twin playing alternative rock at the local pub. 10 p.m.-2 a.m. Free. 873 S. Mason Road, Katy. 281-398-6066.


3. Migrating Birds of Katy

Willow Fork Drainage District hosts this program to educate Katy-area residents about birds that can be found traveling through the region. Presented by Houston Audubon, the program is family friendly and designed to help locals appreciate avian guests as they pass through the area. 9-10:30 a.m. Free. 4. Magic: the Gathering Modern tournament

3rd Coast Cards hosts a Modern rules tournament each Saturday afternoon. Players should bring a constructed 60-card deck with a 15-card sideboard. All player experience levels are welcome. 4-7:30 p.m. $5 entry fee. 20829 Kingsland Blvd., Katy. 281-599-7050.


5. Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church Blood Drive

The MD Anderson Cancer Center Blood Bank will be at the church to collect donations for the hospital’s blood bank. Refreshments and an appreciation item will be provided to all donors. Schedule appointments at 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Free. 5356 11th St, Katy. 5356 Eleventh Street, Katy. 713-792-7777.

6. Riverdance at the Hobby Center

The downtown Houston venue hosts the international Irish dance company performing the popular show just in time to get the audience in the mood for Saint Patrick’s Day. 7:30 p.m. $35 (standard seating), $85 (premium seating).
