Craft beer festival, Holiday Wonderland and 5 other events to check out in Houston this weekend, Nov. 24-26


For those staying in Houston over the extended holiday weekend, there are plenty of events to dive into, including a Game of Thrones party, a craft beer festival and the annual unveiling of the ice skating rink at Discovery Green.

Nov. 24-26: Discovery Green opens The ICE

The largest outdoor ice skating rink in the state opens this week at Discovery Green in downtown Houston. The 7,716-square-foot surface is made by freezing water supplied by Kinder Lake. 11 a.m.-11 p.m. (Nov. 24-25), 11 a.m.-8 p.m. (Nov. 26). $14 (includes skate rental). Nov. 24: The Woodlands Resort lights 20-foot tree at annual ceremony

The Woodlands Resort Grand Illumination and Tree Lighting Ceremony features caroling, holiday cheer and the lighting of the resort’s 20-foot Christmas tree. 6 p.m. Free. The Woodlands Resort, 2301 N. Millbend Drive, The Woodlands. 281-367-1100.

Nov. 24-26: 8th Annual Brewmasters Craft Beer Festival hits Moody Gardens

The three-day event includes a tequila tasting and pub crawl on Friday night, a brewery tasting tour and grand tasting on Saturday and a barbecue on Sunday. Guests can sample more than 400 different beers over the course of the event. 7 p.m. (Nov. 24), 11:30 a.m. (Nov. 25), Noon (Nov. 26). $110 (Saturday day pass), $135 (two-day pass), $165 (full weekend pass), costs vary for individual events. Nov. 25: FM Kitchen and Bar hosts Local Love Fest 2017

The event supporting local businesses features local breweries, live music and art and shopping from 40 vendors. Noon-10 p.m. $5 (first 50 attendees get in free). FM Kitchen and Bar, 1112 Shepherd Drive, Houston.

Nov. 25: Winter is coming at immersive Game of Thrones theme party

Costumes are encouraged at the themed event hosted by Luxe Society Event Group and Avant Garden. The party features live music, themed snacks and drinks, live sword fighting performances, a costume contest, a raffle and a photobooth. 8 p.m.-2 a.m. $10. Nov. 25: White Lightning Dance Hall and Saloon celebrates grand opening in Humble

Celebrate the grand opening of Houston’s newest dance hall with a performance by Cody Canada and The Departed. Youtube celebrities Catfish Cooley and Tommy Gun MC the event, which also features door prizes and a grand prize giveaway at the end of the night. 8 p.m.-2 a.m. $15 ($30 for VIP ticket with guaranteed seating). Nov. 25: Harris County Precinct 4 presents Holiday Wonderland
