July 31: Flood control district seeks feedback on proposed plans in Little Cypress Creek watershed


As a part of an effort to host feedback meetings in each of county's 23 watersheds, the Harris County Flood Control District hosts a meeting to present projects that could be candidates for funding in an upcoming bond referendum and to solicit resident input on other flooding issues that should be addressed. 6-8 p.m. Richard & Meg Weekley Community Center, 8440 Greenhouse Road, Cypress. 713-684-4000. www.hcfcd.org





Aug. 1-Sept. 3: Houston Restaurant Weeks returns to Cy-Fair


Throughout the month participating restaurants feature specially priced lunch, brunch and dinner menus and donate a portion of proceeds to the Houston Food Bank. Nearly 300 businesses participated last year. Times and costs vary. www.houstonrestaurantweeks.com





Aug. 2: Lone Star College trustees to consider adoption of FY 2019 budget at regular meeting


Following several months of budget workshops, trustees will consider adoption of the recommended budget, which includes $381 million in revenues and just under $382 million in expenditures. Approximately $782,000 of reserves will be used to fund the difference. The budget includes funding for a 2 percent raise for full-time employees and non-faculty part-time employees as well as money to fund 30 new full-time faculty positions. Aug. 4: Raise funds for a local injured police officer
