Several new businesses have opened or announced plans to open in the Cy-Fair area this spring. These seven announcements were the most-read development stories at in the month of May.

Two Cy-Fair restaurateurs purchase The Shack Burger Resort on Telge Road in Cypress

Mark McShaffry, owner of The Backyard Grill on Jones Road, and Brian Sandel, former managing partner of Raising Cane’s in Cy-Fair, plan to bring CreekWood Grill to Cypress this summer. The two have jointly purchased The Shack Burger Resort at 12710 Telge Road, Cypress, formerly owned by Joe Duong.

3 tenants confirmed for the new retail center at Hwy. 290 and Cypress Rosehill Road in Cypress

Commercial real estate company SDI Realty is opening a new retail center at 14140 Cypress Rosehill Road, Cypress. Broker Jonathan Murphy said the space, which is expected to open this fall, will host three new businesses.

3 new stores opening at Houston Premium Outlets in Cypress this summer

Houston Premium Outlets, located at 29300 Hempstead Road, Cypress, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this summer with upgraded looks, including new features such as food trucks, digital touch directories and three new outlet stores and one relocated store opening this summer.

“We’re thrilled to have so many exciting announcements to share with area residents and visitors,” General Manager Elaine Devine said. “We value our role in the community and are continually looking to not only enhance our visitor’s experience but also offer a wide variety of options.”

Pluckers Wing Bar confirms opening date of new Cypress restaurant

Texas-based Pluckers Wing Bar will open its doors in Cypress on May 14 at 25310 Hwy. 290, Cypress. This will be the sports bar’s fourth Houston area location.

“We are so excited to open our fourth Houston location,” Co-owner Dave Paul said in a statement. “Over the past two years, we have opened in Memorial City and Webster, and Houstonians have really shown how much they love the Pluckers experience. We are thrilled to finally open our Cypress location and continue to grow our Pluckers community in Houston.”

What’s the huge structure going up at Skinner and Jarvis roads in Cypress?

Drivers traveling west on Jarvis Road in Cypress may have noticed construction taking off on a new building where Jarvis ends at Skinner Road. The building has been confirmed as an upcoming, 52,000-square-foot Exclusive Furniture, which is planned to open at the end of September at 25330 Hwy. 290, Cypress. The furniture store specializes in mattresses, furniture and accents. This article will be updated with additional details on the store as they become available.

Randalls on Barker Cypress Road in Coles Crossing to close in late June

The Randalls located in the Coles Crossing area at 12312 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress, will close in late June, company officials have confirmed. Communications Manager Dawn Proffitt said the decision was made due to the location’s inability to compete in the marketplace and no suitable site being available for a relocation. No information on the future use of the property is available at this time. 713-268-3595.

Ascent Plaza, a 10,300-square-foot development, is under construction at Mueschke, Schiel roads

Construction has begun on Ascent Plaza, a 10,300-square-foot shopping center and professional building at 16356 Mueschke Road, Cypress, near the Schiel Road intersection.

The project is being developed by Louetta Properties, and the architecture work was performed by Antonio Flamenco with Cypress-based INsite Architecture. Work crews began pouring a concrete slab for the pavement this week with the goal of opening the building to the public in August, said Gary Jones, project manager with Louetta Properties.
