Last day to give feedback on Conroe ISD 2018-19 calendar is Jan. 8

Conroe ISD published the two drafts for the 2018-19 calendar on the district website on Nov. 17 for feedback. Students and parents have until 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8 to submit feedback for the District-Level Planning and Decision-Making Committee’s review.

The 2018-19 calendar drafts feature an earlier start date of Aug. 15, which will make it the second consecutive year of an earlier start date, if approved. This proposal is part of CISD’s plan to be a District of Innovation, allowing greater local control and increased flexibility on educational programs, according to CISD’s website.
Both calendar drafts also include an April 19 holiday, as well as spring breaks from March 11-15 or March 18-22. Draft 1 has an end date of May 24, and Draft 2 has an end date of May 30.

Winter break ends for local school districts on Jan. 9

Conroe ISD, Montgomery ISD and Willis ISD students return to school on Tuesday, Jan. 9 following their respective winter breaks. District staff members return to work on Monday, Jan. 8 for a staff development day.

Montgomery County Commissioners Court meets Jan. 9

Montgomery County Commissioners’ Court meets Tuesday morning to discuss and take possible action on various items, including approving funding for the next parcel of land to construct McCaleb Road and allocating an additional $60,000 for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Montgomery City Council meets Jan. 9

Montgomery City Council meets Tuesday evening for the regularly scheduled meeting to discuss and take possible action on numerous agenda items, including adopting a joint election agreement for the May 5 elections and a construction update on Buffalo Springs Drive bridge repair. Conroe City Council meets Jan. 10-11

Conroe City Council members meet Wednesday and Thursday for the regularly scheduled workshop and consent agenda meetings. Council members will discuss and take possible action on various agenda items, including approving the city’s tax abatement agreement with Bauer-Pileco and a resolution directing the city administrator to withhold the payment increase to the Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District’s fee which began Jan. 1.
