Veterans Day cook-off, Montgomery County Nutcracker Market: 6 things to do in Conroe and Montgomery this weekend, Nov. 10-12


There is plenty to do in Conroe and Montgomery this weekend, from a Veterans Day barbecue cook-off to fall events and live music and theater.
Here are six things to do this weekend, Nov. 10-12:

1. Veterans Day barbecue continues at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds
Nov. 11-12

Nonprofit organization Texans United For Freedom hosts the annual Cooking For Courage BBQ Cook-off. The event benefis the TUFF Foundation and The Lone Survivor Foundation, which bring awareness to honoring veterans, active military and first responders.
The three-day event started Thursday and continues through this weekend. Friday’s activities include an open barbecue and margarita cook-offs, live music, live and silent auctions and a fireworks extravaganza in the evening. Saturday’s events include the TUFF Kids Cook-off, live music, a car show and a Veterans Day ceremony led by the Conroe VFW Post 4709.

2. Bonfire and music at Chadillac’s Backyard Waterpark
Nov. 10-12

Chadillac’s Backyard, a homemade waterpark and camping ground created in a Conroe resident’s backyard, hosts a weekend of camping, bonfires and live music from more than 10 bands. Park opens at 5 p.m. Friday and closes 7 p.m. Sunday. Chadillac’s Backyard Waterpark, 16038 Crowley Road, Conroe. 936-231-3327.

3. Montgomery County Nutcracker Market
Nov. 11

The annual Nutcracker Market returns to Montgomery County on Saturday for a holiday extravaganza, featuring more than 150 vendors selling handmade accessories, jewelry, food and holiday decor. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Free. Lone Star Convention and Expo Center, 9055 Airport Road, Conroe. 281-610-8577.

4. Last chance to go to P-6 Farms’ corn mazes
Nov. 11-12

P-6 Farms in Montgomery celebrates the last weekend of its annual Corn Maze & Pumpkin Festival. The event features two corn mazes, farm animals, a candy cannon, a tractor hay ride, tug-o-war and pumpkin picking. P-6 Farms opened to the public on Sept. 23, and Nov. 11-12 is the last weekend of the fall season. 10 a.m.-8 p.m. (Saturday), noon-5 p.m. (Sunday).
