Davis at the Square and SpringHill Suites: 5 developments taking place in McKinney


Developers are turning dirt throughout McKinney. Developments include office parks, retail centers and residential neighborhoods. The following are some development highlights of different projects coming soon.

1. Davis at the Square

Construction on this mixed-use development located at the southeast corner of Davis and Tennessee streets is expected to be complete in August. Upon completion, the 9-acre Davis at the Square site will have 330 apartment units and 20,100 square feet of retail space. Some tenants will move into the apartments starting in March. The development will also offer 201 public parking spaces in its parking garage in addition to 119 street parking spaces and 125 private spaces. 469-406-2293.

2. Ridgeview Townhomes

Ridgeview Townhomes, located at the northeast corner of McKinney Ranch Parkway and Ridge Road, is expected to open by the end of 2018. Upon completion, the 10.87-acre site developed by Greenbrick Partners will consist of 91 townhomes and 17 common areas. Utility work on the site is complete, and construction workers will soon finish pouring pavement. 469-573-6755.

3. SpringHill Suites Dallas McKinney

SpringHill Suites Dallas McKinney, a hotel by Marriott, expects to open a 135-room hotel in mid-June. The hotel, located at 2660 S. Central Expressway, McKinney, will also offer free Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast, swimming pools, a fitness center and a 24/7 market for snacks and necessities. 469-678-5047.

4. Independent Bank

Independent Bank broke ground Jan. 17 on its new corporate headquarters located at the southeast intersection of Henneman Way and Grand Ranch Parkway in the McKinney Corporate Center at Craig Ranch. David Brooks, chairman, president and CEO of Independent Bank, said construction is expected to be done in December.

The six-story headquarters will be the city’s tallest building and will allow space for Independent Bank’s anticipated growth, according to a press release from developer KDC. The $52 million headquarters will house between 1,100-1,300 employees, according to David Craig, the master developer of Craig Ranch. 972-562-9004.

5. St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Community

St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Community is building a 32,000-square-foot permanent sanctuary at 110 St. Gabriel Way, McKinney. The church will have a main worship space, a chapel and courtyards. The project broke ground in May 2016 and is expected to be complete by the end of 2018. Upon completion, a portion of the building will stand 75 feet tall from the ground to the top of the cross.
