Gabe Nesbitt Park improvements
The council approved the transfer of $750,000 from the Hike and Bike Trail Construction Project and $500,000 from the land acquisition to an improvements project at Gabe Nesbitt Park.
The transferred funding will be used to create a second access connection to the John and Judy Gay Library and offer additional parking at the park near the baseball fields.
9 percent low-income housing tax credit
The council passed a resolution of support regarding the application of Cross F Ranch senior living and lofts, located in the Honeycreek development, to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs for a 9 percent low-income tax credit.
Approval of support for the tax credit does not mean approval for development.
These developments and need for support were brought to the council during a Jan. 2 meeting, but no action was taken during that meeting.
Downtown parking garage
During the meeting, the council also approved an updated lease agreement on an approximately $7.6 million parking garage located at the northeast corner of Chestnut and Virginia streets. The new agreement allows a completion date of Dec. 1 and indicates the city will pay for the relocation of the Oncor power pole.
The Sanchez Group, who is developing the parking garage, said a ground breaking will take place in mid-March.
