Transportation, McKinney National Airport and Bonnie Wenk Park: 3 takeaways from Tuesday’s McKinney City Council meeting


During Tuesday’s City Council meeting, council members voted to extend Country Lane add an additional feature to Bonnie Wenk Park and allow for the use of an Aeromedical Operator at the McKinney National Airport.

Country Lane extension project

Council approved a resolution in the amount of $162,770 for Garver LLC to design a Country Lane extension project.

Garver will design the extension of Country Lane to the new FM 546 extension, which is currently under construction by the Texas Department of Transportation.

The project will also take place at the intersections of Industrial Boulevard and Airport Drive, and Country Lane and FM 546.

McKinney National Airport

A resolution regarding Dale Aviation/Medical Air Rescue Company’s aeromedical operation at the McKinney National Airport was also approved at the meeting.

Dale Aviation has purchased Hangar 8 and requested permission from the city to operate as an Aeromedical Operator from this hangar, according to city documents.

Bonnie Wenk Park Phase II Project

Council also approve an increased contract with la terra studio Inc. for professional landscape, architectural and engineering services at Bonnie Wenk Park.

The increased contract, which will not exceed $605,000, will be used in part to design a tower that over looks part of the park.

The new tower would be half the size of a similar one at the Dallas Arboretum, Parks and Recreation Director Michael Kowski said at an Oct. 16 meeting.
