1. Oktoberfest celebrated in Southlake Town Square


Family and friends can attend the city of Southlake’s annual Oktoberfest celebration. The German-inspired event includes a wiener dog race, live entertainment, arts and craft booths, specialty items from local vendors and food and drinks. Attendees can also expect performances by musical groups such as the Swiss Longhorns, Time Machine and Le Freak.

2. Movie shown at the Village in Colleyville
The city of Colleyville is presenting an outdoor showing of the Pixar animated film “Coco.” The plot revolves around Miguel, a young musician, as he confronts his family’s ban on music. Guests are invited to bring chairs, blankets and other comfort items. Free popcorn and drinks are provided.

3. Festival held on historic Main Street
Film enthusiasts can enjoy Grapevine’s first annual film festival. Awards and recognition will be given to nominated submissions from various categories, including best short film, best director, best cinematography and best actor and actress.

3-10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. $10 per day, $35 per VIP pass. Tickets at the door are cash only. Friday’s events take place at the Grapevine Convention Center, 1209 S. Main St., Grapevine. Saturday’s events at the Palace Arts Center, 300 S. Main St., Grapevine. www.grapevinefilmfest.com

4. Cleanup efforts underway in Grapevine
Volunteers can register to participate in a community effort to keep Grapevine’s various shoreline and waterways free of litter. After work is done, volunteers can eat lunch together courtesy of Weinberger’s Deli and Wise Guys Pizzeria.
