Mark your calendar: Plano’s biggest community events in 2018


From festivals to parades, the Plano area hosts a variety of events throughout the year. See what’s planned for 2018 in the list below.



Texas Fly Fishing & Brew Festival
The Texas Fly Fishing & Brew Festival takes place at the Plano Event Center, 2000 E. Spring Creek Parkway. At this family friendly event, attendees can check out a variety of fly fishing manufacturers, attend lectures on techniques and sample local Texas microbrews. General admission is $20, weekend passes are $35, and classes cost $75 each. For more information, visit the event’s website.



TEDxPlano 2018
TEDxPlano is an independently organized event with a combination of guest speakers and TEDTalks videos used to spark discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidelines for the TEDx programs. TEDxPlano is set for April 7 at the Courtyard Theater, 1509 H Ave., Plano.


Artfest is a free community event located in downtown Plano at Haggard Park and McCall Plaza along 15th St. The event showcases the work of artists throughout the North Texas area, and will include live music, contemporary art installations and a place for attendees to draw in the sidewalk with chalk. Attendees can also purchase artwork, as well as food and drink at the food trucks and concession stands.



AsiaFest 2018
The 15th annual Asian-American heritage festival features dance, music, fashion, martial arts and booths representing the cultures and traditions of various Asian countries. The festival takes place at Haggard Park, 901 E. 15th St., Plano.



Holistic Festival of Life
Mystic Mandala’s seventh Holistic Festival of Life runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on June 24 at the Plano Event Center, 2000 E. Spring Creek Parkway. Festival highlights include live music performances and yoga sessions. The event is free, and attendees can also buy crafts and services from a list of over 120 vendors.



Plano Lions Independence Day Parade
The Plano Lions Club hosts an Independence Day Parade on July 4 near southeast Plano. The parade begins at the Plano ISD administration building.



Plano Balloon Festival
The 39th annual Plano Balloon Festival is set to take place at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, 2801 E. Spring Creek Parkway. Balloon operators offer rides costing $25 per person. $5 festival admission, $4 for seniors, free for children under 36 inches.



Plano International Festival
The 14th Plano International Festival takes place in downtown Plano at Haggard Park, 901 E. 15th St. The event includes cultural arts and crafts, food trucks, interactive children’s activities and cultural performances. 214-495-7838.


Steinfest, Plano’s German-themed October festival, offers live music and fall festivities in downtown Plano. Attendees can also choose from a variety of German-style foods and drinks.



Dickens Downtown Plano
Kicking off the holiday season, The Downtown Plano Arts District hosts Dickens Downtown Plano. The event includes a tree-lighting ceremony, snow tubing and ice sculptures at McCall Plaza, Haggard Park and along 15th Street in downtown Plano.
