South Austin community to host 3 local forums featuring mayoral, city council and state representative candidates

Election Day is Nov. 6. Here are three upcoming local forums featuring candidates running for mayor of Austin, mayor of Sunset Valley, Austin City Council District 8, Sunset Valley City Council and Texas House of Representatives District 47. This list is not comprehensive.

Oct. 16

Moderated by Community Impact Newspaper, the city of Sunset Valley’s “Meet The Candidates” forum will take place at city hall, 3205 Jones Road, Sunset Valley, on Oct. 16.

Mayoral candidates will answer questions from residents beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by questions for candidates running for city council. The forum will end at 9 p.m.

Oct. 23

Onion Creek Home Owners Association and South Austin Neighborhood Alliance will host a forum for State District 47 candidates at Onion Creek Club, 2510 Onion Creek Parkway, Austin, at 7 p.m. The League of Women Voters will moderate the forum for candidates Paul Workman and Vikki Goodwin.

Oct. 24

Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods will host an Austin City Council District 8 and mayoral candidate forum at Southwest Family Fellowship, 8203 W. Hwy. 71, Austin, from 7-9 p.m. on Oct. 24. Mayoral candidates Laura Morrison and Steve Adler will speak at 7 p.m. District 8 candidates Bobby Levinski, Rich DePalma, Paige Ellis and Frank Ward or one of his representatives will speak at 8 p.m.
