Local hospitals share news and trends coming in 2019


Local hospitals look to the year ahead with both institutions placing a focus on adding primary care providers to an area that is experiencing a shortage.

Jim Wesson, CEO of Christus Santa Rosa Hospital at 600 N. Union Ave., New Braunfels, said aside from organ transplants, neurosurgery and severe burns, the community can access all health care needs locally. This year the hospital is working to expand its primary care offerings in the Christus Physician Group and is also focused on enhancing its breast cancer program.

Resolute Health Hospital

Resolute Health Hospital, located at 555 Creekside Crossing, New Braunfels, relaunched its spine surgery program in late 2018 after a two-year hiatus. Officials are working to introduce new technologies as well as adding five primary care providers in 2019, according to Director of Business Development Tripp Lyles. The hospital offers a variety of specialty services and is home to the HealthLink Fitness & Wellness Center.
