The events below are a guide for events and things to plan for in New Braunfels around the holiday season.

Gruene Historic District

Cowboy Kringle, Gruene’s own version of Santa Claus, will be available for photos. Nov. 23-25; Dec. 8-9, 21-22. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The breezeway between The Grapevine and Gruene General Store.

Nov. 27-30

Support senior citizens

Stroll among decorated Christmas trees and place bids in a silent auction benefiting local seniors at the Festival of Trees. 10 a.m.-8 p.m. (Nov. 27-29), 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (Nov. 30). Free. The River Venue in Milltown Historic District, 478 Porter St., New Braunfels.

Get festive in Gruene

After a day full of Christmas activities in the Gruene Historic District, the Gruene Town Lighting will take place at 6 p.m., following a brass band street performance that will begin at 5 p.m. Free. 1601 Hunter Road, New Braunfels.

Get in the holiday spirit

The Hometown Holiday Christmas Parade will feature local talent, a visit from Santa Claus and more. The parade begins at Prince Solms Park and runs through downtown New Braunfels, concluding behind the courthouse. 5-9 p.m.

Sip, savor, stroll and shop

Wassailfest takes place among thousands of holiday lights in historic downtown New Braunfels. Enjoy a cozy evening of music, shopping and food while sipping warm wassail samples. 6-9 p.m. Free. 500 Main Plaza, New Braunfels.

McKenna Children’s Museum

Meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at McKenna’s Merry Celebration. Dec. 7. 6-8 p.m. Free for adults, $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Pre-registration required. McKenna Children’s Museum, 801 W. San Antonio St., New Braunfels.

Run and walk for the kids

The Jingle Bell 5K Run/Walk benefits St. Jude’s Ranch for Children. After the race, the top finishers will be recognized at an award ceremony. All ages welcome. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., race starts at 9 a.m. $15-35. Gruene Hall, 1281 Gruene Road, New Braunfels.
