‘Grand Ol’ Christmas Show,’ Holiday Adventure Camp and other holiday events to enjoy


The 2017 holiday season is now in full swing, and these are some of the local and area winter activities taking place throughout December.

Through Dec. 31
s Ranch

Drive through more than 1.5 million holiday lights featuring displays of gingerbread houses, nativity scenes, depictions of the North Pole and more. Maximum vehicle height is 8 ft. and maximum length is 30 ft. Food, beverages and souvenirs available for purchase. Dec. 19 and 21
Elementary schools plan special holiday events

On Dec. 19, Voss Elementary School, 2510 Pahmeyer Road, hosts its second-grade Christmas program at 6 p.m.

On Dec. 21, Klein Road Elementary School, 2620 Klein Way, hosts the musical “Happy the High-Tech Snowman.” 6 p.m.. Free. 830-643-5700. www.nbisd.org

Dec. 19 and 26
Two Ton Tuesday Christmas Show

San Antonio-based rockabilly act Two Tons of Steel performs at Gruene Hall every Tuesday evening and will present Christmas performances in December. Swing dance lessons take place from 6-7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. $5. Gruene Hall, 1281 Gruene Road, New Braunfels. www.gruenehall.com

Dec.  21-22
‘Grand Ol’ Christmas Show’ has two nights at Brauntex

The “Grand Ol’ Christmas Show” with Blue Water Highway is performed both nights at 7:30 p.m. each night. $20-$40. Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre, 290 W. San Antonio St. 830-627-0808. www.brauntex.org

Dec. 27-29
Holiday Adventure Camp

Through Dec. 31
Christmas at the Caverns

This Christmas celebration offers sights and sounds of the holiday season in the underground caverns. Several activities are available, including caroling in the caverns, a Christmas hayride, a Reindeer Roundup maze and Flying Elf zip line. In addition, New Braunfels and Comal ISDs have set their holiday breaks. Students in New Braunfels ISD have winter break from Dec. 25-Jan. 5, and school begins Jan. 8. Comal ISD’s break begins Dec. 21, and students are back in school Jan. 4. www.nbisd.org and www.comalisd.org
