Preschool roundup, giant Candy Land: 6 things to do in Leander and Cedar Park this weekend, Jan. 11-15


Cedar Park and Leander families can spend the long weekend volunteering, playing a life-size game of Candy Land and visiting a preschool expo.


1. Six-week meditation class begins
Beginners and advanced meditators may practice meditation and mindfulness techniques at weekly classes that last until Feb. 15.

WORTH THE TRIP: Kids show animals at Travis County Youth Show’s 2018 Livestock, Fair and Auction
Throughout the weekend, kids will participate in various competitions showing off roping skills, presenting livestock and more at the Travis County Exposition Center. Families can also sign up for a 1K fun run.

3. The BIG Preschool Roundup takes place in Cedar Park
The MOMS Club of Cedar Park hosts the second annual preschool fair, featuring family-friendly businesses, extracurricular groups and educational institutions. Activities like face painters and bingo are available for guests.

4. Giant Candy Lane game played at local library
Families play a life-sized version of the Candy Land board game, complete with characters and sweet treats at the finish line. The game takes about 10 minutes.

5. Cedar Park Farmers Market features produce, hand-made products
Market attendees can food such as find fresh vegetables, jerky, eggs and hand-made soaps.

6. Volunteers help out at park on Martin Luther King Jr. Day
In honor of the holiday, local volunteers can work on park improvement projects at Southwest Williamson County Regional Park.
