Anniversary celebrations, self-defense class: 6 events in Leander and Cedar Park this weekend, March 8-10


Celebrate the anniversaries of the Leander Police Department and Red Horn Coffee House & Brewing Co. or attend another one of these events in Cedar Park and Leander this weekend.


1. Williamson County Sheriff’s Office offers self-defense class
The self-defense class covers basic safety strategies. Participants should wear clothes that permit movement.

2. The Austin Spurs face the Reno Bighorns
The H-E-B Center at Cedar Park holds a basketball game between the NBA affiliate teams the Austin Spurs and the Reno Bighorns.

3. Red Horn Coffee House & Brewing Co. holds anniversary party
The restaurant and venue will host live entertainment, release new roasted expresso and Barleywine, and serve food at its third anniversary event.

4. Leander Police Department celebrates anniversary
The Leander Police Department celebrates 40 years of service and honors employees and volunteers with plaque presentations, station tours, a time capsule dedication and a historical video.

5. Blazin’ Kane performs concert
The band Blazin’ Kane plays a show at Whitestone Brewery. The musicians focus on music from the 1980s.

6. Bertram Flyer rides out of Cedar Park
The Austin Steam Train Association’s Bertram Flyer takes a 44-mile round trip with a stop at the historic Bertram Depot.
