1. Voter registration deadline nears for November election
Tuesday, Oct. 10 is the deadline to register to vote in time for Election Day on Nov. 7. Early voting begins Oct. 23. Read more here on what to know ahead of this fall's election season.
2. Drop off hazardous waste at expo center on Saturday
Williamson County and Houston-based Waste Management, a disposal company, host a free waste collection event Sept. 30 at the Williamson County Expo Center. The event takes place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Acceptable disposal materials include household cleaning products, indoor pesticides, automotive products and painting supplies. Read more here.
3. County breaks ground on new building in Georgetown
Williamson County has broken ground on a new annex building that will house offices for the Precinct 3 county commissioner, the county constable and justice of the peace. The new facility will house the county’s purchasing, human resources and veterans services offices as well as the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. Construction is expected to finish in the summer of 2018.
4. Georgetown seeks proposals for arts, culture grants
The Georgetown Arts and Culture Board is accepting grant proposals for events and projects taking place between Dec. 1 and Sept. 30, 2018, involving art, music, theater and culture heritage events and projects. Nonprofit organizations, schools, informal groups and individual artists who create public art or are holding events open to the public are all eligible. Read more here.
