DFW Metro Publisher
Christal Howard joined Community Impact Newspaper in 2013 to launch the Frisco edition as its general manager and now serves as the publisher of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.
Among the many reasons Christal loves leading the CI DFW team is the chance to be surrounded daily by incredible talent—sales professionals who thrive on serving their clients; journalists who are smart, creative and full of passion; and designers who make concept doodles come to life as deeply useful infographics. Also topping the list—the chance to serve the community. Christal is on the Frisco Chamber of Commerce board of directors and the Frisco Education Foundation board and can often be found emceeing various community events.
Prior to life as an Impacter, Christal worked in TV news as an anchor, reporter and managing editor. In her TV life, she was recognized with several awards, including a Texas Associated Press Broadcasters award for Best Reporter and two Emmy nominations. She also previously worked as the media manager for a publicly traded energy company. The most important role for Christal, however, is by far being a wife and mother. She and her husband, Michael, have two children, Emma and Bennett, as well as a rescue dog named Marley.
