More than 82,000 Collin County residents voted early in the March 3 primary, with 40,664 Democrat ballots and 41,465 Republican ballots cast between Feb. 18-28.

Total early voter turnout was down by 2%, from 15.48% in the March 2016 primary to 13.47% in the March 2020 primary.

While overall turnout was down, Collin County saw a surge in the number of residents who voted early in the Democratic primary. According to data posted by the Texas Secretary of State's office, early ballots cast in the Democratic primary totaled 40,664, an 130% increase from the 17,662 ballots cast in 2016. Republican ballots totaled 41,465, a roughly 30% decrease from the 59,739 ballots cast in 2016.
