The intersection of Independence Parkway and Parker Road will be closed Friday, June 12, starting at 8 p.m. while city crews work to replace a leaking water valve under the intersection.

"Over time some of these valves will leak. This one was put in over 40 years ago," Public Works Director Gerald Cosgrove said.

All lanes at the intersection will be closed Friday night except for the right northbound turn lane of Independence Parkway. More lanes are expected to be opened on Saturday while crews pour concrete after the valve is replaced, Cosgrove said.
