A $7.4 million renovation project at Haun Elementary School in Plano is on track to begin sometime before March, said Tony Pearson, Plano ISD assistant director of facility services.

The renovations will include adding new finishes throughout the building, such as new paint, tile and flooring. Workers will also add new doors, hardware and lockers. Work will also address any mechanical or plumbing issues and remodel the kitchen with new equipment.

The project is expected to be complete by August, according to a district-prepared document. PISD awarded the contract for the project on Nov. 6 to Bartlett Cocke General Contractors.

The project had originally been estimated to cost approximately $6 million, but PISD trustees on Feb. 5 approved raising the project's ceiling to approximately $7.4 million.

Funds for the project come from the district’s 2016 bond program.
