1. Return of Snuffer's


Snuffer's Restaurant & Bar returns to Plano today, opening its new location at 4901 W. Park Blvd., Ste. 521. The restaurant, which had previously closed a location on Preston Road, is known for its burgers and cheddar fries. It also serves a variety of dinner platters, including grilled chicken, chicken fried chicken, wraps and salads. Dallas-based Snuffer's has 11 other locations, including locations in Addison, Dallas, Rockwall, Richardson and Southlake.

2. Jazz in the park


In a change of events, the Frisco Jazz Band will be filling in tonight for the Plano Community Band for July’s concert in the park. The Frisco Jazz Band will perform at 7 p.m. at Haggard Park, 901 E. 15th St. The event is free to the public.

3. Art sessions at the library


Artist Samuel Molina will be the artist-in-residence at the Gladys Harrington Library throughout August. Molina specializes in graffiti and street art, and will be available in the library Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays during his residential hours for lessons. Molina will also hold special sessions on Aug. 12 and 26. Learn more at this website.

4. Learning to empathize


A couple of sessions on Thursday for young children and pre-teens will focus on how words and actions can hurt others, and how to build a constructive vocabulary for expressing one's feelings. The first session, for ages 6 to 9, will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Haggard Library, 2501 Coit Road, Plano. The second session, for ages 10 to 13, will begin at 1 p.m.
