Some retail stores, from small downtown businesses to department stores at local malls, have taken early steps toward outlining what retail curbside service will look like in and around Plano.

Eight downtown Plano retail stores were expected to participate in a retail-to-go kickoff event from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. April 24.

Downtown businesses participating in the event include Holman Pottery, La Foofaraw, Lyla's Clothing, Decor & More, Pipe & Palette, Shinola, Sutton Place, Sweet Home Bath and Body and The Feathered Nest.

More information on how to place a to-go order is available at the downtown businesses' various websites and Facebook pages.

Restaurants in downtown Plano were expected to continue offering food orders for takeout throughout the event.

Statewide restrictions on curbside retail service were expected to be lifted April 24 under an executive order issued last week Gov. Greg Abbott.

Dillard's announced April 23 that it would reopen its store at The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano, as well as stores at eight other North Texas malls, for curbside service.

In the case of Dillard's, customers can visit the company website and see if their order qualifies for curbside pickup at a local store. After selecting that option under "delivery method," they can sign up for text notifications or email updates on the status of their order.

Many other stores are expected to reopen partially in the coming days.
