Collin College will host a panel discussion on race, poverty, law enforcement and crime Oct. 18 from 6-8:30 p.m. The free discussion is open to the public and will take place at the Preston Ridge Campus Conference Center, 9700 Wade Blvd., Frisco. "In light of recent local and national events, the [Collin College Interdisciplinary Committee on Poverty] felt it prudent to provide a safe environment for healthy dialogue on these issues," said Stephanie James, event host and professor of criminology at Collin College, in a news release. Topics slated to be discussed include theories of the study of race, criminology research, incidents of police brutality and advocates for resolution.
