Hugh Coleman, the Denton County Commissioner for Precinct One and Denton resident, has filed for re-election.

During his time as commissioner, Coleman said he has worked to help fund numerous road projects in the county, including FM 423 and Teel Parkway in Frisco.

In the next term, Coleman said he would like to see the expansion of US 380 from Frisco to Denton, along with other road projects, completed.

Coleman said he also wants to continue his efforts to encourage transparency in county government.

"I, on my own, published my personal financial statement and my campaign finance statement on the Internet, and I'm really trying to encourage my colleagues to do the same," he said. "I believe transparency really leads to good government."

Denton County is growing about as quickly as Collin County, adding approximately 100,000 people within the past five years. With as fast as Denton County is growing, Coleman said he has supported quality development in order to provide more jobs for incoming residents.

Coleman's background includes being a prosecutor, a civil attorney for the county, an assistant district attorney and a district attorney.

"I'm passionate about county government," he said. "Something I've always wanted to do is county commissioner. I think my background is particularly fit for this."

Coleman will be running against Frisco resident Brett Larson.
