The North Texas Tollway Authority board of directors approved advertising design and construction contracts for several toll roads during its Aug. 19 meeting.

The contracts to be advertised include design and construction for the Dallas North Tollway and President George Bush Turnpike widening projects.

The board also approved an environmental engineering services contract for the Sam Rayburn Tollway—also called SH 121—widening project.

Each project is expected to help NTTA accommodate for the growing traffic congestion in the region.

DNT project

A fourth lane will be added to the DNT from I-635 to SRT. The first portion of this project from PGBT to SRT is underway and is scheduled for completion in 2018.

The board agreed to advertise the second construction and construction management services contract from I-635 to PGBT. This portion of the project is scheduled to begin late this year and will be complete in 2017.

The DNT project also includes reconfiguring the direct-connector ramps on the north side of the DNT and PGBT interchange and adding additional ramps on the toll road.

PGBT project

A fourth lane will be added to PGBT from 1-35E to SH 78. The project began this year and is expected to be complete in 2019.

The board approved advertising the design engineering services contract from 1-35E to DNT and from US 75 to SH 78.
