The Collin College board of trustees will begin interviews this week for the college president position.
The board has seven meetings scheduled from Jan. 21 through Jan. 24 for interviews.
In October, the board agreed to a tentative timeline of naming a sole finalist by February or March. The board must name a sole finalist or finalists at least 21 days before the meeting to appoint a new president, according to state law.
The board began searching for the next college president after former President Cary Israel announced his resignation last fall. Israel had been the community college district's president for 16 years.
The board selected Colleen Smith, the college's senior vice president of Academic Affairs and Student Development, as the interim president in October.
Collin College has seven community college campuses and centers in Collin County, including two in Plano and one in Frisco.
