The Frisco Economic Development Corp. has been named one of the best economic development organizations in the world by Atlas Advertising.

The Frisco EDC was announced as a gold winner in the Atlas Advertising's Economic Development Olympics at the recent 2013 International Economic Development Conference in Philadelphia.

Based on projects from 2012 with the potential to create or retain 3,500 jobs in the Frisco area with a potential capital investment of more than $1 billion, the FEDC ranked first in the High Performance Economic Development. It ranked first in most jobs created in its population category, 100,001—250,000.

"We are proud and humbled that this honor was announced in front of our distinguished peers during the annual IEDC conference," said James Gandy, president of the Frisco EDC. "The designation reflects the vision of our city leadership, the sage direction of our board of directors and the hard work executed everyday by the FEDC staff.

Through September, the Frisco EDC in 2013 has facilitated 16 projects, which created more than 2,200 jobs.

Participating communities in the High Performance Economic Development Awards are ranked according to self-reported responses to an Atlas survey.

"The economic development organizations we recognized and honored are the best of the best in their category," said Ben Wright, CEO of Atlas Advertising. "As such, they are the models for our industry."

According to its website, Atlas Advertising is comprised of community sales and marketing specialists and is a full service agency focusing on integrated software products and creative services for economic development, real estate and tourism marketers.
