As the Texas Department of Transportation moves forwarding with widening Main Street, traffic patterns between Preston Road and Custer Road will be changed, starting Oct. 22, according to the city of Frisco Communications and Media Relations Department personnel.

Main Street traffic will shift to different lanes, and two residential streets will be closed to Main Street for the next nine months.

Oct. 22 and 23, traffic on Main will be shifted about 10 feet to the north to allow construction on the south side of the road. Westbound traffic will be shifted into its new lane Oct. 22 and eastbound traffic will shift into its new lane Oct. 23.

City officials say to expect intermittent delays on Main Street between Preston and Custer. Turn lane locations will be shifted and some temporarily eliminated during construction.

Road closures

Taft Powell Road will be closed for nine months between Main Street and Gregory Lane beginning the morning of Oct. 23. Traffic should use Huntington Road and Hillcrest Road as alternate routes to Main Street. It is expected to reopen by July 2014.

Pinebridge Drive will also be closed for nine months beginning Oct. 24 between Main Street and Stanmere Drive. Alternate routes include Lynhurst Drive and Coit Road. Traffic to Bacchus Community Park will need to use the park's main entrance further east on Main Street. Pinebridge Drive is expected to reopen July 2014.
