Developer Cooper & Stebbins has asked the Southlake City Council to table a proposal to develop condominiums in Southlake Town Square until Nov. 19.
The project first surfaced in Sept. 3, and was tabled after members of the public spoke, largely opposing the 40-unit condo building. The matter was tabled again on Sept. 17 and Oct. 1.
Council support for the 40-unit condo building offering units for sale, lease to purchase or for least for $3,000-$5,000 a month, was tentative and tenuous. Four council members—Carolyn Morris, Randy Williamson and Pam Mueller—said unofficially at the Sept. 3 meeting that they could not support it.
The condos were part of a proposal to revise other plans for housing at mixed-use development. A plan approved in 2011 called for 130 Garden District homes, 10 Brownstones and no condos. The new proposal calls for 60 Garden District homes and 33 Brownstones plus the condos.
Cooper & Stebbins developed Southlake Town Square.
Tuesday's council agenda also calls for preliminary plat approval of Park Village, a large mixed-use development proposed for the southwest corner of Carroll Avenue and Southlake Boulevard.
The meeting begins with a work session at 5:30 p.m. at Southlake Town Hall, 1400 Main St. Find the agenda at www.cityofsouthlake.com.
