Clothe a Child, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing clothes for economically disadvantaged kindergarten through eighth-grade students at Frisco, Little Elm, Celina and Prosper school districts, is in need of volunteers and donations.

Clothe a Child partners with area churches, organizations, individuals and businesses for three days in October with a goal of providing $100 in new clothing from Kohl's to 3,000 students.

"All communities have children in need of new clothes," said John Hamilton, director for Clothe a Child Frisco. "Unfortunately, not all families have the means to provide the basic clothing items they need for school—shoes, shirts, jackets, jeans, etc."

Hamilton said at least 1,800 volunteers are needed to serve the families attending the events on Oct. 5, 12 and 26.

At the event, volunteers 16 and older are paired with participating families and assist them in selecting clothes.

"The donations to support our event come from churches in the area, and we also receive some support from businesses, but the bulk is from churches and individual donors in the community," Hamilton said. "Kohl's works with us to bring in a ton of clothes and they give us a great discount and recruit additional volunteer store helpers from local stores, which turns into 'Kohl's Cares' donations to Clothe a Child."

Students in need are identified by school counselors through their interactions with student families and information from the free and reduced lunch program.

The counselor provides children with an application to be completed by parents or guardians.

The application is reviewed by the Clothe a Child committee, and families are contacted to confirm their child's acceptance.

One hundred percent of donations goes toward clothing local children.
