Drivers attempting to cross US 75 via the Eldorado Parkway overpass haven't had much luck this week as crews rework and temporarily close the intersection. However, relief for drivers is in sight, as the work is expected to wrap up this week.

Left turns have been prohibited from Eldorado Parkway on the Eldorado bridge over US 75 since Monday to allow Texas Department of Public Transportation crews to install new curbs and signal poles on the bridge.

Drivers can instead take Medical Center Drive and Craig Drive.

Drivers can cross US 75 at Virginia Parkway and at the Sam Rayburn Tollway.

US 75 main lanes and frontage roads are expected to remain open throughout this time. Also, drivers will be able to make u-turns and right turns at Eldorado throughout this transition.

When complete, the new intersection will be a Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI), which means that all traffic turning left to/from US 75 will be controlled from a single set of traffic signals located directly atop the bridge. This allows left-turning vehicles to turn simultaneously without crossing.

There will be three different traffic cycles. The first is for Eldorado Parkway traffic that is not turning. The second is for traffic turning left from US 75 onto Eldorado Parkway. The third is for traffic turning left from Eldorado Parkway onto US 75.
